How to Add a Digital Watchdog Camera to a DW Spectrum NVR

Pre-Installation Requirements

·        Confirm both the camera and NVR are powered on and connected to the same network.

·        Ensure the camera has a static IP address or a DHCP reservation.

·        Have the camera login credentials (default is often admin / admin unless changed).

·        Ensure DW Spectrum NVR is running and accessible via the client software.

Step-by-Step Instructions

Launch DW Spectrum Client

Open the DW Spectrum Client on your workstation and log in with your administrator credentials.

Access the Resource Panel

On the left-hand side, open the Resource Tree and expand the NVR/server where you want to add the camera.

Add a New Camera Manually

Right-click on the Server name and choose 'Add Camera'.

Scan for Devices

Click 'Search' to let DW Spectrum scan for available devices. Wait a few moments for detected cameras to appear.

Locate and Select Your Camera

Identify the correct camera using its IP or MAC address and check the box next to the camera.

Enter Camera Login Credentials

Input the camera's username and password (default: admin/admin). Click 'Next' or 'Test Connection'.

Confirm and Add

After verification, click 'Add Selected' or 'Finish'. The camera should now appear in the Resource Tree.

Configure Camera Settings (Optional)

Right-click the camera and choose 'Camera Settings' to adjust recording, stream, motion detection, and analytics.

Troubleshooting Tips

Camera Not Found?

Confirm NVR and camera are on the same subnet. Try pinging the camera. Update firmware if needed.

Invalid Credentials?

Reset the camera to default settings if the password is lost.

No Video Stream?

Check the correct RTSP stream path is configured. DW Spectrum usually auto-detects it for DW cameras.
