Turn off Yealink Message Notifications
Yealink T54 - Removing Voicemail Message Lights, Notifications, and Envelope Icon
Quick reference for phones that should not show voicemail alerts or message waiting indicators.
|
What each symptom means • Flashing light / pop-up notice: usually notification behavior on the phone. • Envelope icon at the top of the screen: message waiting indication (MWI) from the phone system. • Best long-term fix for phones that should not show voicemail alerts: disable Subscribe for MWI on that account or remove voicemail from the extension on the PBX side.

If the envelope icon does not disappear right away, reboot the phone and make sure there are no still-new voicemail messages being reported by the system. |
Other ways to remove or reduce notifications
• Clear the voicemail message: If the mailbox still has a message marked as new, the T54 will usually keep showing the envelope icon.
• Disable notification behavior: On some configurations, you can disable popup message notices or LED flashing while still leaving voicemail access in place.
• Check the correct line: If the wrong account is selected in the phone web interface, the icon and light will keep coming back because the actual subscribed line was never changed.
• Watch for auto-provisioning: If your hosted platform reprovisions the phone, manual changes on the phone may be overwritten later.
• Fix it at the PBX when needed: If an extension should never have voicemail, the cleanest fix is often to remove voicemail or message waiting behavior on the phone system side, not just on the handset.
To Completely Turn off Message Waiting Subscription
Override- account.1.subscribe_mwi = 0
Disable voicemail feature (full override) features.voice_mail.enable = 0
👉 Removes voicemail integration from UI
👉 Also suppresses MWI behavior
|
Important note - Disabling Subscribe for MWI normally stops the phone from showing voicemail waiting status on that line. That is great for phones that should stay quiet, but not great if someone still expects visual voicemail alerts. |
